Ningaloo Station Stay Adventure
Three station stays. Once unforgettable coastal adventure.
Experience a different side of the Ningaloo Coast on a road trip connecting three of Western Australia’s unique station stays. From the red dirt and working cattle country of Bullara to remote beaches, coastal camps, coral reefs, and the rugged landscapes of Warroora and Quobba, this itinerary combines station life with some of the best of the Coral Coast.
Spend your days swimming, snorkelling, fishing and exploring, then slow things down in the evenings with spectacular sunsets and clear night skies. Allow four days to explore the route, or add it to a longer Coral Coast road trip and take your time travelling north or south.
Exmouth to Bullara Station
Begin your station stay adventure in the coastal town of Exmouth, the gateway to the World Heritage-listed Ningaloo Reef. Take a short flight from Perth to Exmouth to start your journey. From here, make the short one-hour drive to Bullara Station, a working cattle station offering an authentic outback experience just a stone’s throw from the coast. Settle into your accommodation or campsite and make Bullara your base for the next two nights, with plenty of time to explore the spectacular beaches, marine life and natural attractions of Exmouth and Coral Bay, before returning to the relaxed surrounds of station life each evening.
Once you’ve checked in, head to the Woolshed Café for a coffee or something to eat before exploring the station, make sure to try their famous home-made scones. Wander the walking trails, meet some of the station’s animals or simply spend the afternoon relaxing and taking in the surrounding red dirt and open landscapes.
As the temperature begins to drop, head out for an afternoon walk before settling in for the evening. Depending on when you’re visiting, keep an eye out for what’s happening around the station, from seasonal dining experiences to live music and other events with their Friday burger night being a popular sell-out every week during the season.
Explore Bullara & the Ningaloo Coast
Wake up at Bullara and start your morning with breakfast and coffee at the Woolshed Café before deciding how to spend the day.
For a coastal adventure, make your way to Coral Bay and explore the Ningaloo Reef, where you can spend the day swimming, snorkelling and relaxing on the beach. To experience more of Ningaloo’s marine life, join a tour departing Coral Bay for the chance to encounter manta rays, turtles and other marine life. During the right season, you can also book a whale shark or humpback whale experience.
Alternatively, stay closer to the station and enjoy a slower day exploring Bullara on foot, relaxing around your accommodation and switching off before another evening under the stars at Bullara Station.
Bullara Station to Warroora Station
Enjoy one last morning at Bullara before packing up and travelling south towards Warroora Station, where remote station country meets the Ningaloo Coast.
As you make your way south, the journey takes you through the open landscapes of the Gascoyne before turning towards the coast and Warroora’s remote beaches and campsites. The station is 2WD vehicle accessible but it is advised to check the road conditions after heavy rain. Parts of the Waroora coastline are 4WD access only. Once you’ve arrived and set up camp, spend the rest of the day exploring the coastline. Warroora stretches along the Ningaloo Marine Park, providing access to secluded beaches, clear water and stretches of reef just offshore.
Slow things down in the late afternoon and find a spot along the coast for sunset. Afterwards, return to camp for dinner and another night beneath the stars.
Discover Warroora and Surrounds
Wake to the peaceful sounds of the ocean at Warroora Station and spend the day discovering this spectacular stretch of the Ningaloo coastline. With its pristine beaches, turquoise waters and rugged coastal landscapes, Warroora offers the perfect setting for a day of adventure or relaxation.
Pack your snorkel and beach essentials and set off to explore the station’s secluded bays and beaches, where you can swim, snorkel, fish or simply unwind on the sand. Take your time discovering the surrounding coastline, keeping an eye out for marine life in the crystal-clear waters.
Return to your accommodation in the afternoon for a relaxed evening, watching the sun set over the Indian Ocean before enjoying another night beneath the stars.
Warroora Station to Quobba Station
Wake early and enjoy a final morning on the Ningaloo Coast. Head down to the beach for a morning walk or quick dip before packing up camp and continuing south towards Quobba Station.
Travel south to the Blowholes Road turnoff, 20 minutes north of Carnarvon, and head towards the coast and a visit to the Quobba Blowholes, before continuing on to Quobba Station. As you approach the coast you will encounter rocky coastline and powerful ocean swells, a contrast to the sheltered beaches further north. Be sure to visit the famous Blowholes, where strong ocean swells force water through holes in the rocky coastline and send it high into the air. Take your time exploring the area and viewing the coastline from the designated areas before continuing to Quobba Station.
Check into your accommodation or campsite and spend the afternoon exploring the station and surrounding coastline. Keen anglers can make the most of Quobba’s well-known fishing, while those looking for a more relaxed afternoon can explore the beaches or simply settle in and enjoy the views. Finish your final day with sunset over the Indian Ocean before returning to camp for dinner.
Note: The road from the NW Coastal Highway to the Blowholes is sealed, however from this point the 10km drive to Quobba Station is unsealed as is the 60km drive further north to Red Bluff.
Discover Quobba Station and choose your next destination!
Wake up to the peaceful sounds of the waves crashing ashore and spend the morning discovering Quobba Station and its surrounds. Cook up a BBQ breakfast, take yourself for a swim or try for a line of fishing if you didn’t get the chance yesterday.
Although it’s time to pack-up camp, don’t stop your adventure here. If you have more time, turn the journey home into another adventure. Stop in Shark Bay to discover Francois Peron National Park, Dirk Hartog Island and Monkey Mia, spend a few days exploring the gorges and coastal cliffs of Kalbarri, or break up the drive with an overnight stay further south.
